OMIR by Dimash – A Birthday Gift Turned Global Tribute

The Story of One Song…

Each year, Dimash’s global fan base celebrates the Kazakh superstar’s birthday in heartfelt and meaningful ways. This year, what began as a local initiative by Dimash Dears Hungary (DDH) blossomed into a deeply moving international musical tribute — a studio recording of Dimash’s own composition OMIR, performed by a handpicked orchestra of talented young musicians from the Virtuosos classical music talent show. A European classical music talent show, that’s 10th, anniversary edition was aired recently. Dimash has been member of its jury since 2023.

A Dream Takes Shape

The idea was sparked when Dimash Dears Hungary reached out to the Virtuosos team, expressing their wish to dedicate their annual birthday donation to support young classical talents through the Young Virtuosos Foundation. Rather than supporting just one individual, the project’s creative lead (from Virtuosos) proposed something even more powerful: creating a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience that could involve many gifted children.

The plan? Assemble a small orchestra composed of outstanding former Virtuosos contestants — children whom Dimash himself may remember from past collaborations, when he was a judge of the talent show — and invite them to Hungary for a professional studio recording of OMIR, one of Dimash’s most personal and beloved original songs. Omir was composed by Dimash 2 years ago and released as a present to his Dears on his own birthday. The idea was immediately embraced by the Hungarian fan club, and soon support began to pour in from all over the world, with donations arriving from Belgium, Mexico, and many other countries — turning it into a truly global fan-driven project.

The Music and the Message

The song OMIR, originally written by Dimash as a message to his fans on his birthday, felt like the perfect choice. Its melancholic beauty was transformed into something new — a heartfelt anthem of love, innocence, and pure emotion. The arrangement was specially crafted for this occasion by composer and conductor Apor Szüts, who also worked on the widely praised arrangement of The Show Must Go On, performed by Dimash in Singapore and recently surpassing one million views.

All the young musicians wore white during the studio session — symbolizing innocence, talent, and unity. The resulting video, soon to be premiered, is both a musical and visual tribute. It shows not just the excellence of these young Virtuosos, but the depth of affection and respect that Dimash’s fans feel for him. Carefully woven into the video are touching moments and memories, echoing a powerful message: Virtuosos is, and will always be, a safe haven and a home for Dimash — a place where he is cherished and always welcome.
