Virtuosos returns to the screen tonight

Last year’s finalists of Virtuosos V4+ and the Hungarian Radio Symhony Orchestra (MRME) will perform a gala concert on 29 December. The Hungarian TV-channel, “Duna TV” will broadcast the new, fourth international season of the classical music talent show in January.
The laureates of Virtuosos V4+Slovenia were invited to perform in March in the Great Hall of the Liszt Academy of Music, accompanied by the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and conducted by János Kovács and Soma Dinyés. With this concert recording, public media is celebrating young talent.

This concert performance was a special award in the classical music competition – the contestants performing were: Levente Somogyi (Hungary), Ondrej Toman (Czech Republic), Mário Gecasek (Slovakia), Maciej Kasperek (Poland) and Evelin Greblo (Slovenia) – the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir also performed. The audience will hear works by Bartók, Mozart and Strauss on 29 December at 19:30 on the DUNA TV and online at https://mediaklikk.hu/video/mr-szimfonikusok-2023-a-virtuozok-es-a-magyar-radio-muveszeti-egyutteseinek-galakoncertje/.

PLÁCIDO DOMINGO AND THE WINNERS CONCERT ON 5TH JANUARY

This year on March 4, Maestro Plácido Domingo invited eight talented young musicians, winners and special award winners of Virtuosos to share the stage with him in front of almost 9000 people in the MVM Dome in Budapest. Apart from Maestro Domingo, the evening’s headliners were Plácido Domingo Jr. and Juliana Grigoryan, accompanied by the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra, conducted by Eugene Kohn and Gábor Hollerung. A beautiful concert film was edited from the recordings, the audience can watch not only the concert, but can peek into the backstage as well, to see how the artists are preparing before the show. So this episode of Virtuosos will be aired on the 7th January from 20:45, on Virtuosos YouTube channel.

Semi-final: 14th January, Finals: 19th and 26th January

The international jury will once again include world stars such as opera singer Plácido Domingo, opera singer Erika Miklósa, cellist Hauser and classical guitarist Pablo Sáinz Villegas. The jury also includes Gabriela Rachidi, Cultural Director and Harvey Goldsmith, Music Promoter. The three new judges are singer and composer Plácido Domingo Junior, composer of the Virtuosos V4+ theme song and former mentor to the young talents, Kazakh singer Dimash Qudaibergen and Kossuth prize-winning violinist-conductor András Keller.
